The National Centre for Social Research's (NatCen) flagship British Social Attitudes survey (BSA) is evolving. Earlier this year we launched our new quarterly report series, offering more frequent and timely snapshots of what people across Britain think about the issues that matter most.
Join us on Thursday 4 June, in London or online, for the launch of the second BSA 43 output.
The latest BSA launch will feature two chapters, with in-depth analysis on:
With tuition fees and university access back in the political spotlight, this chapter asks some fundamental questions: do we still want a significant proportion of young people to go to university? Do we still see a degree as beneficial for graduates? And do we think students should pay and if so, how much? The chapter also explores how attitudes vary by age, education and political affiliation, and whether views on higher education are becoming increasingly polarised.
Authored by Professor Sir John Curtice, this chapter examines the characteristics, attitudes and ideologies of those who identify with Reform UK, and how, or indeed whether, these have changed since the party's rise in support following the 2024 general election.
