The Survey Data Collection Methods Collaboration, also known as Survey Futures, is designed to support a step change in survey research. This awards event aligns with the area of work within the Survey Futures programme that focuses on supporting early careers researchers and aiming to improve retention in the sector.

Professor Peter Lynn, Principal Investigator – Survey Futures, says, “We are delighted to announce the eight recipients of this year’s awards. This initiative has provided an opportunity to showcase up and coming talent in the UK survey sector. The awards ceremony will provide a platform for these researchers to promote themselves, their work and to network with colleagues. These award-winners represent some of the very best individuals working in survey research today and, with their help, the future of survey research will be bright.”

Winners of these awards will receive year-long mentoring and opportunities to further support their career via free training and professional recognition.

Survey Futures is led by researchers from the Universities of Essex and Southampton and is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (UKRI-ESRC) for a three-year period, which began in July 2023. The main objective of this initiative is to ensure that it will remain possible in the UK to carry out high-quality social surveys of the kinds required by the public and academic sectors to monitor and understand society, and to provide a solid base for policy.
