Update on the Ethnic Minority Groups additional study

Despite the best efforts to promote the survey, performance of the Ethnic Minority Groups additional study has been below expectation. The projected volume of interviews achieved by the survey’s closure would not of had a meaningful impact on the National Study of Health and Wellbeing 2023.

In collaboration with NHS England and the study’s steering group, it was decided that continuing the Ethnic Minority Groups study in its current form would not have been good use of public funds.

The decision has been made to suspend the Ethnic Minority groups additional study pending a review on the methodology used. This has been a hard decision to make but stopping it is the right thing if it is not going to deliver as intended.

We are grateful to anyone who took part in the Ethnic Minority Groups study and your answers will still be included as a vital part of the main National Study of Health and Wellbeing report.
