The Social Research Apprenticeship is a four-year programme, designed to deliver real world experience as a social researcher while gaining a recognised and bespoke degree in applied social research from the University of Kent.

The National Centre for Social Research (NatCen) is proud to be a part of the Trailblazer Group that were involved in the apprenticeship programme development, providing a new route into careers in social research.

The deadline for receiving applications to the 2024 apprenticeship programme has now closed.

Unlock your potential as a Social Researcher at the National Centre for Social Research. Join our team and gain hands-on experience in a variety of research methodologies, data analysis, evaluation and social impact.

Our apprentices will work alongside experts in the field, contributing to projects that shape policy and drive positive change in society.

Your day-to-day tasks will revolve around building essential research skills vital for success in the field of social research, such as:

  • Designing surveys, conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis, and writing comprehensive reports
  • Developing proficiency in statistics and utilising various research methodologies
  • Cultivating teamwork, communication, time management, and problem-solving skills

This is a degree-level apprenticeship and during this four-year programme, you will divide your time between studying under a team of academic experts and putting your new skills to the test in the workplace, with experienced and multi-disciplinary teams.
