Tulika Chakraborty
Tulika is a Researcher in the Crime, Justice and Security team at the National Centre for Social Research (NatCen). Her research interests include violence against women and girls (VAWG), migration, and intersectional inequality.
Before starting in the Crime, Justice and Security team, Tulika worked briefly as a field researcher at NatCen (Family Resources Survey, English Housing Survey) as well as at Kantar Public/Verian. Prior to this, she worked as a Research Assistant in the Psychological and Behavioural Department at the LSE, where she was part of a team developing an algorithm manual for machine learning classifier to recognise misunderstandings in online dialogue. Using a psycholinguistic lens and qualitative conversation analysis of close to 10,000 dialogues, the output achieved moderate reliability (0.81).
At NatCen, Tulika has worked on projects across various social matters such as transparency in family courts, asylum system and age assessments, youth violence prevention, and racial disparities in education – encompassing all stages of the research process, including designing recruitment materials, conducting fieldwork, data management, analysis, and reporting.
