Senior Researcher
Stephen Hinchcliffe

Stephen joined ScotCen in February 2013, as a Senior Researcher. He works primarily on the Scottish Health Survey, but has also contributed towards a number of other projects, both Scottish and UK wide. He has been involved in a number of reports using quantitative data, across a range of themes, including sectarianism in Scotland, mental health, and social renting. On the Scottish Health Survey he is involved in all parts of the survey cycle, from questionnaire design to reporting.

Stephen has a PhD in Social Policy from the University of Edinburgh. This was a mixed methods project, involving analysis of Growing Up in Scotland data, and semi-structured interviews with parents who had previously taken part in that study, looking at the way in which couples work together, in their role as parents. He has experience of a range of quantitative analytical techniques, and various survey and administrative data.
