Naomi Ogunkola
Naomi is a Research Assistant in the Crime, Justice and Security team at NatCen. Her research interests include the cybersecurity risks associated with open-access satellite data, hooliganism, online far-right content, and the experiences of Black women facing institutional racism in the criminal justice system.
Naomi holds a BSc (Hons) in Physics with Astrophysics from the University of Warwick, where she conducted research on satellite imaging and statistical methods to assess the impact of flooding on different land cover types – earning her a First-Class distinction. Outside her degree, Naomi has worked as a Research Associate at WMG, University of Warwick, focusing on enhancing research culture and addressing social mobility issues in higher education. Her work was presented at the International Research Culture Conference (IRCC) in 2023 and co-published in Exchanges: An Interdisciplinary Research Journal in 2024.
Naomi's current projects at NatCen include exploring the connections between online far-right conspiracy content and offline real-world violence, as well as investigating powder cocaine use among football fans.
