Emerlynne Gil

With extensive expertise in international human rights law, Emerlynne has worked on critical issues such as the impacts of national security laws on human rights promotion and protection, climate justice, gender equality, and racial justice. Recent projects have focused on climate financing and human rights-based transition to renewable energy and cleaner energy alternatives. Prior to consulting, Emerlynne held senior management posts in leading international human rights organisations such as Amnesty International and the International Commission of Jurists, where she led research and advocacy programmes focusing on access to justice, addressing systemic barriers, and empowering marginalized groups. She has also collaborated with grassroots organizations across Asia and Africa, providing legal research and advocacy support. Her passion for equity-driven change is reinforced by her direct experience in managing complex, cross-border programmes, including grant-making for justice initiatives.

Emerlynne holds an MSt in International Human Rights Law from the University of Oxford, and an LL.M. in International Human Rights Law from the University of Notre Dame. During the early part of her career, she practiced law in the Philippines and worked as a senior law clerk at the Supreme Court of the Philippines.
