Daniel Peñaranda Osorio
Daniel is a Senior Researcher at the Centre for Evaluation, with a keen interest in conducting program evaluations to enhance the effectiveness of governments, NGOs, and international cooperation agencies in improving people’s lives. At the National Centre for Social Research (NatCen), Daniel focuses on evaluating programmes using Theory-Based Evaluation approaches, harnessing the power of qualitative impact methods to reveal causal links in complex interventions. His areas of interest include multidimensional and income poverty, social security systems, employment informality, and intersectionality.
Before joining NatCen, Daniel evaluated programs for USAID/Colombia on diverse topics such as youth, education, migration, and human rights protection. Additionally, he has experience in conducting evaluations and designing policies for government departments and international cooperation programs, focusing on innovation, social impact bonds, and equity in official statistics. Daniel holds an MSc in International Social and Public Policy from the London School of Economics (LSE) and an MSc in Economics of Public Policy from Universidad del Rosario. This dual background has equipped him with the skills to engage in mixed-methods research for policy evaluation purposes.
