Life in Northern Ireland Study 2023
About the study
The Life in Northern Ireland Study aims to explore the opinions and experiences of people living in Northern Ireland. This year’s survey will ask you about a range of topics including your views and experiences of the economy and the cost of living, environmental issues, and Northern Ireland’s relationship with Britain.
Why take part?
Taking part is voluntary, but by doing so you’ll be ensuring that the views and experiences of you and people like you on important issues are represented.
By answering our questions you could make a difference in the real world. Government departments, academics, and other policy groups will use the information you provide to make sure they make the right decisions.
As a thank you for your time, we will also send you a £10 voucher if you complete the study.
What will taking part involve?
It’s easy to take part and will only take around 10 minutes of your time. To take part, simply go to survey.natcen.ac.uk/NI2023 and enter the access codes provided in the letters we sent to you.
If you cannot complete online, you can complete the survey over the phone, by speaking to one of our experienced interviewers. Please phone us free on 0800 652 4569 to make a telephone appointment.
Why have I been selected to take part?
Your address has been selected at random from a list of all addresses in Northern Ireland, kept by the Post Office. This is to make sure that the survey represents the whole country. The findings will not identify you or your family.
Who is carrying out the research?
The research is being carried out by the National Centre for Social Research (NatCen), Britain’s largest independent not-for-profit social research organisation.
This year’s Life in Northern Ireland study is being funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the Department for the Economy.
