Dr Indre Balcaite
Indrė Balčaitė is a Senior Researcher in the Longitudinal Surveys team.
Indrė joined NatCen in 2022 as a Senior Researcher in the Centre for Children and Families. She is a researcher with fifteen years of experience in interdisciplinary social research, mainly using qualitative methods. She has worked in policy, charity and academic sectors.
Indrė has contributed to research projects and reports delivered for the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, the Home Office, Ministry of Justice and the European Commission. These projects focussed on irregular migration, criminal justice, social policy, volunteering and education.
Indrė has also worked and volunteered for charities in North West London, developing her skills in quantitative data analysis and visualisation for monitoring and evaluation.
Her doctoral and postdoctoral research was an ethnographic study of irregular migration in South-East Asia. She still teaches migration studies to university students.
