Emma Jones
Emma is a Research Director of Crime, Justice and Security at the National Centre for Social Research, where she leads the Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) portfolio. Her expertise lies in leveraging the power of lived experience through innovative, participatory research, and delivering projects that are trauma-informed, epistemically justice, and responsive to the needs of vulnerable and marginalised groups.
Previously, at The Cynefin Company, Emma led and developed: “Power, Discrimination and Conflict”, an international research programme working across the development and humanitarian sector. It was through this initiative that her experience and passion for gender-based violence, gender equality, and social justice grew.
Building on this experience, Emma pioneered the first complexity-informed exploration of coercive control and began her own journey into understanding and advocating for victim-survivors of domestic abuse.
Today, as the leader of the VAWG portfolio, Emma aspires to be a prominent voice on VAWG awareness, advocacy and prevention, and harness the power of research for philanthropic good and legislative change.
