Free Early Education Entitlement
Take-up of Free Early Education Entitlements
NatCen Social Research has been commissioned to carry out research for the Department for Education about take-up of the free early education entitlements for disadvantaged 2 year olds, and the universal 15 hours entitlement for 3 and 4 year olds.
Specifically, we are trying to understand reasons for variation in take-up of the entitlements in different parts of the country.
The study aims to generate learning and evidence about:
- Lower and declining take-up in London
- Whether factors affecting take-up in London affect other areas in England
- Actions taken by providers and Local Authorities to improve take-up
- Any impact of the introduction of the 30 hours offer for working parents on the universal entitlements
