Survey of Childcare and Early Years Providers
Survey of Londoners
The Survey of Londoners is a new research study commissioned by the Mayor of London. The study will help to understand the lives of people living in London. The information will support work to make living in London better for everyone, including tackling poverty, supporting new parents, promoting volunteering and making the city a fairer place to live.
If you have been invited to complete the survey and you would like to take part, please click here. You will need to use one of the access codes found in your invitation letter.
Why take part?
Your answers will directly influence how London is run. The findings from the survey will be used by staff at City Hall and by your elected representatives in the London Assembly. They will be used to improve and plan new programmes to support Londoners like you.
The findings from the research will help the Mayor of London to deliver a range of programmes to support Londoners, including:
- Employment opportunities
- Community sports initiatives
- Support to new parents
- Rewarding volunteers
- Tackling poverty
We hope we can count on your support.
We would like to invite you to take part in an online questionnaire. This will take around 25-30 minutes to complete. Full instructions to take part can be found on the letter you have been sent.
What will you ask me about?
We would like to ask you questions on a range of topics about life in London. We will ask about things like your neighbourhood and community, your leisure time and volunteering, as well as how you are coping financially. Taking part is completely voluntary and you can skip any questions you do not wish to.
Do I have to answer all the questions?
Don’t worry – you don’t have to answer any questions you don’t want to, you can just skip on to the next one.
We guard your privacy
We will treat the information you give us in the strictest confidence under the Data Protection Act 1998 and the EU General Data Protection Regulation. The information you give will be used for research purposes only. Most of the results will appear as percentages and statistics - we will not identify your individual opinion without seeking your permission. All your personal details information will be held until no longer required, in accordance with current data protection legislation.
Why has my household been selected to take part?
If you have been invited, this is because your household has been selected from the Royal Mail’s publicly available list of residential addresses in London.
We have selected addresses to ensure that we get a representative view of the lives of different groups of people living in the city. The Survey of Londoners is designed so we can hear the views of all Londoners.
How can I take part?
We have invited around 15,000 households across London to take part in the survey. If your household has been invited to take part, you will have received a letter in the post. Unfortunately, if you have not received a letter you will be unable to participate.
Will I receive a voucher for taking part?
Everyone who completes a questionnaire will receive a voucher. We will only accept one questionnaire per person. Checks are in place to detect fraudulent completions.
