How will my answers be used?
The information you provide will be used by the Scottish Government to write a report that sums up the views of everyone who took part.
Healthcare professionals will use the report to help find ways to provide better support for parents. The report will be published in December 2017 at www.gov.scot/publications/recent.
Will my answers remain confidential?
Yes, your information will remain confidential under the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998 and other legislation. The results collected are used for research purposes only. You will never receive any junk mail as a result of speaking to us. We never pass on your details to other organisations for commercial purposes.
What will happen to the information I give you?
The information you provide will be recorded by ScotCen on behalf of the Scottish Government.
ScotCen does not have access to any of your medical records and will destroy any confidential data once it is no longer required.
ScotCen will pass your survey information to NHS National Services Scotland (NSS).
NSS will store your information securely and confidentially under the terms of the Data Protection Act and other legislation.
NSS and the Scottish Government will group together answers from everyone who takes part in the survey and will only publish these overall results.
If you take part in the survey, National Records of Scotland will pass some information to NSS about the area where you live (your NHS health board of residence and the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation quintile for the area you live in).
NSS will use this information to look at the survey results for different areas of Scotland. National Records of Scotland will not pass on your personal details such as your name and address.
The survey information will be deposited with the UK Data Service, but no confidential data will be included in this deposit.
We respect your wishes
Taking part is voluntary and you do not have to answer any questions you don’t want to. You can leave a question blank if you don’t want to answer it, and you do not have to give a reason.
