Why take part?
This evaluation will inform future design and delivery of RM Partners’ services and programmes. As a patient who has had contact with one of RM Partners’ programmes, your input is very valuable for this research.
The interviews will take place over the phone and they will last around 45 minutes. The interview can be conducted at a time and date convenient for you. With your permission, the interview will be audio recorded so that there is a detailed and accurate record of what you said.
What will you ask me about?
Whether you take part in a survey or an interview about a specific programme, the questions will focus on your experience of service delivery, referrals and waiting times, opinions about communication received/not received, whether your experience met your expectations and suggestions for improvement. We will be interested to understand your views on what has worked well/less well about initiatives.
Do I have to answer all the questions?
Don’t worry – you don’t have to answer any questions you don’t want to, you can just skip on to the next one.
How will you deal with my personal information?
We will treat the information you give us in the strictest confidence under the General Data Protection Regulation. You can find out more about our credentials and who we are here and how we protect your personal information here.
Why have I been selected to take part?
You have been contacted because you are well placed to give valuable insight into an aspect of RM Partners’ work. We would like to speak to you for around 45 minutes to get your views and understanding on issues related to our evaluation.

In compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2018 (GDPR), there are certain things that we need to let you know about how your information will be handled. In this privacy notice, we explain the legal reason for data processing, what personal data we will collect, who will have access to your personal data, how your data will be used, when it will be deleted, and who you can contact about a query and complaint.
1. The legal reason for handling data
The National Centre for Social Research (NatCen) and Frontier Economics are the data processors for this evaluation. RM Partners- hosted by The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, is the data controller. RM Partners, the West London Cancer Alliance, is a partnership of healthcare organisations and providers leading on the delivery of the recommendations in the NHS national cancer strategy in its geography. As the data controller, RM Partners is responsible for deciding the purpose and lawful basis for collecting and handling data in accordance with GDPR. This project is funded by RM Partners through the NHS England Cancer Transformation Fund and delivered by the NatCen and Frontier Economics teams. NatCen and Frontier economics are carrying out this research for RM Partners. The legal reason for processing the data is ‘legitimate interest’. This is because NatCen and Frontier Economics will process personal data for the purpose of conducting an evaluation of RM Partners work.
2. What personal data will be collected?
2.1. Survey – Demographic details such as age, gender, ethnicity, postcode, details of health conditions and the name of GP surgery. For those who indicate that they are willing to be contacted for an interview we will also ask for name and contact details. This information will be collected following the Lung Health Check by Royal Brompton hospital and shared with NatCen and Frontier Economics.
2.2. Interviews – Information including e.g., day-to-day activities (e.g., job type and/ or voluntary/ leisure activities) and responsibilities (e.g., caring responsibilities). Data will also be collected on health conditions (if any), type of treatment received (if any) and experience of treatment, including those health appointments and tests that may have informed diagnoses.
3. Who will be able to access my personal data?
NatCen – will have access to all data listed above in section 2.
Frontier economics – will have access to all data listed in section 2.
McGowan Transcriptions – is the service NatCen will use to write up the research interviews with staff and patients. They will have access to recordings and transcriptions from all interviews. NatCen will assign unique identifiers so individuals cannot be identified. McGowan Transcriptions is on NatCen’s approved supplier list and conforms to their information security policies.
Evaluation results will be published and made publicly available after the study has been completed. Any identifying information including staff or patient names will not be published in any outputs.
4. How will my data be treated?
The data we collect will be used for research only. All personal information, and any other data held on the project, will be deleted by NatCen and Frontier Economics within six months of the project’s completion in 2020.

Where we are processing your personal data with your consent, you have the right to access a copy of your personal data, ask for your personal data to be corrected or ask for your personal data to be deleted.
