Interviewer, COVID-19 research project

Location: Opportunities in London, Wales, Edinburgh, Lothian and Derby

Salary: £120 per day plus mileage and benefits

Department: Field

Contract: Freelance

Application deadline: 21 May 2021

We are looking to recruit fieldworkers to gather data for this critical piece of research to measure the extent of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of your role, you will conduct a short telephone interview with households who have volunteered to help. You will then deliver and assist household members (no direct contact is required with household members) to self-administer swab tests and finger-prick blood tests which will be used to establish infection levels across the UK.

We offer full training, a flat fee of £120 per day plus holiday pay, associated benefits and a mileage allowance of 32p per miles (first 10,000 miles, 25p thereafter).

Although this role is currently limited to our COVID-19 study, there may be further opportunities to work on our many other research projects in the future.

What we offer:

  • High-quality initial training with ongoing support
  • Flexible working hours
  • £120 per day plus holiday pay, workplace pension and other benefits.
  • Personal mileage allowance of 32p per mile (first 10,000 miles, then 25ppm).
  • Opportunity to work on a range of social research projects in the future

What you will need:

  • Ability to work a minimum of between 5 and 9 hours per day (depending on caseload) for a minimum of 4 days per week, one of which must be a weekend day. Some of this time will include work during evenings.

  • Use of a car is essential – personal business insurance cover (class 1) is required.
  • Documents to verify your identity and to show you’re eligible to work in the UK
  • Being comfortable with using a smartphone to record data
  • Being self-motivated, organised and dedicated to completing the work on time
  • A friendly and outgoing attitude as the role is community-based.
