Maha is a Research Director in our Policy Research Centre’s Evaluation team. She has expertise in the use of complex experimental and quasi-experimental methods. Maha is particularly interested in female empowerment and child labour in the context of developing countries. She holds a Masters degree in Economics from University of Warwick and for her dissertation, she implemented instrumental variable technique to determine the impact of dowry on female empowerment in Bangladesh.

Before joining NatCen, she worked in the Cabinet Office of Isle of Man where she worked closely with the politicians and helped inform complex decision making about different aspects of public policy by providing economic insight.
