Before stepping into the role of Regional Manager, Claire Taylor was Area Manager for Area 6 for five years. Previous to that she was the Deputy Area Manager for seven years. She is supported by a team of freelance team leaders and supervisors. The Area Manager's role is varied and challenging, bringing together a large group of home based interviewers and helping them to work together as a team and capture good quality research data that reflects public opinion accurately and sensitively.
Area 6 covers North and North West London and the Northern and Western home counties - Bucks, Beds, Berks, Oxon, Northants and parts of Herts and Cambs. It is a densely populated area with over 6 million residents. The area covers a mixture of urban and rural neighbourhoods and is the only area within Natcen Social Research without a coastline. Within her area there are currently 85 interviewers and nurses who work on a variety of projects, carrying out face-to-face interviews with members of the public and sometimes students in schools. In the past, interviewers have worked with respondents from probation offices, prisons and army training camps.
Claire started working for NatCen in 1990 as a freelance interviewer and became a supervisor a couple of years later. Prior to this she worked for a large construction company producing monthly management accounts. The precision and detail required in this role has helped Claire to understand the level of accuracy and integrity required in order to deliver high quality research that will continue to inform and influence society.
