Gambling behaviour in England & Scotland

Published: April 2014

Headline findings on gambling from the Health Survey for England 2012 and Scottish Health Survey 2012

Aim

The purpose of this report is to provide a brief statistical bulletin of gambling prevalence in England and Scotland.

Findings focus on

  • participation in gambling
  • problem gambling prevalence
  • the prevalence of gamblers at low and moderate risk of harm

Methods

We've combined data from the Health Survey for England 2012 and Scottish Health Survey 2012 and reweighted it to be representative of England and Scotland.

All findings relate to adults aged 16 and over, living in private households. Those living in institutions were outside the scope of the survey.
