Gerry Nicolaas appointed as Director of Methods at NatCen

The National Centre for Social Research (NatCen) has today announced that Gerry Nicolaas will become its Director of Methods.
She will join NatCen’s Leadership Team in August and head its new Methodology and Innovation Hub to be launched in September 2018.
Gerry is currently Head of Data Collection Methodology at the Ipsos MORI Research Methods Centre. She brings over 20 years’ experience in methods, including previously at NatCen and the University of Manchester. Gerry is also the General Secretary of the European Survey Research Association (ESRA).
Commenting on her appointment, Guy Goodwin, Chief Executive at NatCen, said: “This is a big appointment for NatCen and signals our ambitions to become leaders in methods and innovation in the UK, including enhancing further our reputation for being cutting edge in data collection methods and practice”.
Gerry Nicolaas said: “I am delighted to be joining NatCen. In social research, there are great opportunities for methodologists to make a difference . We need to be flexible in how we collect and use data from a range of sources, including big data and administrative sources, and able to conduct high quality surveys using face to face, web and telephone techniques.”
