Senior Researcher

Location: London

Salary: £30k - £40k (depending on skills & experience)

We have an exciting opportunity to join NatCen’s Survey Research Centre. NatCen carries out many of the country’s most important and high profile social surveys, with a number classed as National Statistics. The Survey Research Centre aims to deliver the highest possible quality in survey research – and to use the latest methodological, operational and technological best practice. There are three research teams: Household Surveys, Health and Biomedical and Longitudinal Studies. The post is located in Longitudinal Studies, which conducts the most highly prized of the longitudinal and cohort studies, including the English Longitudinal Survey of Ageing and the Birth Cohort Study 1970. It is also home to NatCen’s growing probability web panel.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Researcher with a background in quantitative social survey or market research, who is passionate about research and the research process. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in day to day management and delivery of some of our high profile surveys, liaising with colleagues, collaborators and funders. You will be flexible, a strong communicator and work well as part of a team. Each survey team is responsible for a survey from development to delivery so you’ll be involved in all stages including design, set up, monitoring fieldwork, data analysis and reporting.

You will have opportunities to contribute to new business development and proposal writing.

Main duties:

  • Project management and survey delivery.
  • Research design.
  • Report writing and presentation.
  • Contributing to proposal writing.
  • Building relationships with collaborators and clients.

You will need:

  • Quantitative research skills with experience of quantitative methods, including survey design, delivery and reporting.
  • Longitudinal survey skills would be an advantage, but are not essential.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Experience of delivering complex projects to timetable and budget.
  • First class communication skills, including proposal and report writing and presentation skills.
