Ceri is a qualitative social researcher with over a decade of experience of mixed methods projects and significant expertise in communities, deliberation and participatory research. Currently focused on civil society and democratic engagement, she leads NatCen’s work on deliberative research overseeing a portfolio of work on citizen engagement with policy making that can generate evidence for policy and practice. This currently includes an ESRC grant for a national mixed-methods project investigating public attitudes towards EU-regulated policy areas and a significant piece of research for Defra on a programme of citizen engagement to understand how the public prioritises and values the environment. As part of this work she is also innovating the use of online deliberative events and exploring their use and value in the context of deliberative democracy.
In addition to this research, Ceri has expertise in a range of methods including evidence reviews, interviews/focus groups and user involvement and a wider research interest in the politics of knowledge. She also has experience of designing and supporting knowledge exchange and research impact and is associate editor of Research For All.
